Inland Empire Earthquake Causes Phone Jam
here's more info on the earthquake and how the stupid cell phones didnt work. JAM!
"The earthquake that hit Southern California on Tuesday caused phone networks to jam up as many people tried calling at the same time, but the infrastructure was intact, the area's main phone companies said.
Bill Kula, spokesman for Verizon Communications Inc., said there was an initial peak of blocked calls after the quake, but it appeared to be the result of people getting on their phones to check with family members, friends and colleagues.
AT&T Inc. spokesman Fletcher Cook said there was no known damage to the company's phone lines or cellular towers, but that both networks experienced congestion. In case of an emergency, he recommended repeatedly retrying a landline phone number, or using text messaging on a cell phone.
The 11:42 a.m. quake was initially estimated at 5.8 by the U.S. Geological Survey but was revised downward to 5.4."

Heroes Season Premier SPOILER !!!
The episode picks up at the end of the abbreviated Season Two, with the attempt on Nathan Petrelli’s life. Nathan flat-lines on the operating table -- but then he comes back to life, pale as a Casper and twice as grateful.
Then we learn that it was Nathan’s brother Peter - from the future - who came back in time to kill Nathan, to prevent him from revealing to the world the existence of super-powered people. Matt figures it out, and gets banished to the desert for his troubles.
Hiro is in Japan, a titan of industry running his family’s company. He tells Ando he’s bored, that after saving the world -- twice -- he’s a man without a quest. And right on cue, he’s delivered a dvd with a message his father recorded for him before his death.
The message? On the dvd, Hiro’s dad Kaito Nakamura (George Takei) explains that he is now the protector of a secret that, if it falls into the wrong hands, could destroy the world. It’s in his safe, and he’s instructed to NEVER open the safe.
“It’s half of a formula...It’s the light, to combat darkness,” Nakamura says in the recording.
After Hiro and Ando open the safe (and get chided for it posthumously by Hiro’s father). Season 3’s new villain, a blonde named Daphne, AKA Speedster (Brea Grant) shows up and steals the formula.
Sylar’s back! He shows up and terrorizes Claire in her home in a scene obviously written by someone with affection for the “Scream” horror franchise. Their scenes together were the highlights of the episode, simultaneously tense and funny.
“I know you’re scared Claire,” Sylar says. “I would be too if I were here with someone like me.”
Claire stabs him in the heart with a huge kitchen knife. But Sylar overpowers her and then proceeds to pull a Hannibal Lector and cut the top of her head off and then pokes around in her brain and absorbs her power.
As he walks out, Claire asks Sylar why he didn’t kill her.
“You can never die, Claire, “ he said. “I guess now, neither can I.”
Like Matt the intrepid cop, Niki Sanders gets short shrift in the episode. She shows up only briefly in a hotel room, scantily clad, with a political figure (played by Bruce Boxleitner) who’s interested in the newly-evangelical Nathan.
Nathan, you see, after his near-death experience has seen the light. “We are all connected. Save ourselves. Save the World.”
Meanwhile, Suresh makes a breakthrough. After watching Maya’s powers manifest themselves, he determines that the genetic building blocks for powers lie in the adrenal glands, and triggered by bursts of adrenaline.
He sees the opportunity to create superheroes on demand, with specific powers. Maya thinks it’s going against nature, and that he should destroy it.
But Suresh juices himself anyway, and wouldn’t you know he gave himself super-strength??
The episode had two HUGE reveals.
Hiro, curious to see what the future holds if they don’t get the formula back, jumps forward and sees himself betrayed and struck down by a suddenly super-powered Ando! We get a quick glimpse of the potential Apocalypse as well.
Then, after Angela warns Future Peter that he’s messed up the timeline with his actions, we learn that Present-Day Pete has been trapped inside the body of a prisoner in Level 5 of the company, the same place HRG is incarcerated.
Fade to black, episode ends.

"I guess the time to sell is now for all Back to the Future II related memorabilia. Thanks to the media craze initiated by Nike with their Hyperdunk 2015, the days/weeks following its release saw an auction pop up for the Nike Mag (which ended at $5,300 USD) with its complimentary prop the Mattel Hover Board now also up for grabs on the internet auction block site eBay. However with $30,000 as the starting bid for this (obviously) unfunctional prop, it’s a steep price to pay. Unlike other props made of styrofoam which hasn’t passed the test of time, this Hover Board is made of wood and metal complete with a texturized paint job. I don’t see the skateboard being replaced seven years from now by a floating board though. See the a clip of the Hover Board in action after the jump."

Dark Knight Hints for the 3rd Part??? (Spoiler Alert)
I know this mite be a stretch but I think Mr. Reese is going to be the Riddler. I know he's a little bitch in the movie but the Riddler always went up against his enemies with traps and riddles... so it might fit. Here's my reasoning: Mr. Reese = Mysteries = Enigma = Edward Nigma = Riddler. Holla.
We Shall SEE !!!!
if it was my choice, i'd love to see fat ass Penguin as the next villain but the Riddler might actually be more entertaining.
Check out www.GothamTimes.com, it's an interesting website with alot of clues and hints to the movie and future of the film...
Bye everyone...

NEW CLIPPER's CENTER !!!
The Los Angeles Clippers Acquire Marcus CAMBY!!!
From ESPN: The Clippers on Tuesday acquired Denver Nuggets center Marcus Camby as their replacement for Elton Brand.
The Clippers will only have to surrender a future second-round pick to acquire Camby, who is being jettisoned into the Clippers' salary-cap space vacated by Brand to generate payroll relief for the Nuggets.
Camby, 34, is coming off a productive season in which he averaged 9.1 points, 13.1 rebounds and 3.61 blocks for the Nuggets, who won 50 games to claim the final playoff spot in what is regarded as the most competitive conference race in league history.
From The LA Times: "This is the perfect fit for our team,' said Clippers Coach Mike Dunleavy of the 34-year Camby, a 12-year veteran and the league's defensive player of the year in 2006-07.
Clippers.com: "I love this acquisition for the current make up of our team," Clippers head coach Mike Dunleavy said. "We are getting a consummate pro who is maybe the best team defender in the league and who has 60 playoff games under his belt."
Elgin Baylor said. “Marcus can play multiple positions and is one of the better rebounders and shot-blockers in the league. With him playing alongside [Chris] Kaman I think we will have a pair of excellent interior defenders, and that will make us a formidable team.”
Well...this is a bit of a surprise. Not what I was expecting to read when I woke from my evening nap.
Good jobs by Lawler'sLaw and bballanalyst for getting this story out to the peeps.
I really like this deal, for the most part. Sure beats the Zach Randolph trade. Marcus Camby is a serious defensive presence. The Clippers now have two of the top three rebounder's and shot blockers in the NBA from last season. The front line will be quite formidable. The Clippers obviously chose to go the defensive route to replace Elton Brand, eschewing the potential scoring punch that a player like Randolph could provide.
It is great from a salary cap standpoint. The Clippers are still under the cap, and can still add a player before all is said and done. Camby also becomes a trade piece next season, along with Tim Thomas and Cat Mobley. All three expire prior to the 2010 free agent bonanza, when players like LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Amare Stoudemire and Chris Bosh will all be available. The Clippers will now be players in that lottery, or use the three in a trade. It gives the team lots of leverage.
Camby is 34. He is much older than Josh Smith and Emeka Okafor, yet does what both were expected to be able to provide defensively, at a much lower cost. It seems that the Clippers were just not comfortable tying up five years worth of big money to a young, unproven player. They instead opt to acquire an established interior player who can match up with the bigs in the west. He is certainly a downgrade from Elton Brand, most notably on offense, but a great pickup nonetheless.
It basically works out as a trade of Brand and Maggette for Baron Davis and Marcus Camby. Not terrible.
As our esteemed Citizen Zhiv has been suggesting, this may be the beginning of Kaman's slide over to power forward. I believe he has the skills. I also think that Camby can be a great role model for DeAndre Jordan.
I imagine that this move has upset the plans of a lot of the restricted free agents. Smith, Okafor and Andre Iguodala were all hoping for some fat offers by the Clippers. That is not going to happen now. It remains to be seen whether or not the Clips are done with this free agent season, or will stay busy in an effort to bolster roster more.
So, let's have a look now, shall we:
PG Baron Davis
SG Eric Gordon
SF Al Thornton
PF Chris Kaman (good call, Zhiv)
C Marcus Camby
Bench: Cuttino Mobley, Tim Thomas, Brevin Knight, DeAndre Jordan (he can learn a lot from Camby), Nick Fazekas, Shaun Livingston (?), and whoever else.
Sounds like another addition to the Top 8 of the West ! Too bad Brand had to go though... Sorry Marco...

TODAY'S TOP STORY: The gaming and entertainment worlds continue to converge. The fruits of a new culture of collaboration among divisions at Sony became evident as the company kicked off a video downloading service for the PlayStation3 yesterday. The store will offer an initial 300 movies and 1,200 TV show episodes, some in HD, from at least 7 major studios including Sony, Paramount, Fox, Disney, Warner Bros., MGM and Lionsgate. Meanwhile Microsoft announced a partnership with Netflix to stream movies and TV episodes to the TV via the Xbox Live store, offering access to more than 10,000 downloadable "Watch Now" titles. The company also cut deals with NBC Universal and Endemol to bring more than 700 Universal films and NBC, USA and Sci Fi episodes to the platform for purchase, along with an interactive version of the gameshow 1 vs. 100. What is interesting about all of this is that the studios are known to be notoriously stingy in sharing revenue on digital platforms (Apple keeps little of the revenue generated from iTunes content sales.) Gaming platforms are being forced to do whatever they can to keep players in front of their consoles, even if its means taking time away from playing $50 games. (courtesty of Cynopsis)
